We probably all know someone who wants to lose a lot of weight right? They talk about it all the time and know it’s something they have to do, but year after year, they look the same! If they want to lose weight so bad, why aren’t they losing it?
Why don’t people change even thought they say they want to?
There’s something about the way they are living now that serves them. It might sound strange, but in some way, having those extra pounds does something for them. Maybe they are hiding behind their weight, maybe it’s a good excuse to not to fit into that dress or go to that event. Somehow the situation they are in is useful to them.
They don’t want it bad enough. Maybe they want those French fries more than they want to lose that weight. There is a choice to make every time they eat. Do I want French fries? Do I want to eat healthy? The choice is always there, but they want the French Fries more than they want the weight loss.
Seems too far away. We all live for what feels good now. Being 20lbs lighter will feel good later, a long time from now. French fries feel good now. They feel like losing 20lbs can’t happen immediately and it would be so long before that happens and they just can’t see how that will feel good today.
They don’t exactly know what the end result will be like. What does being 20lbs lighter feel like? Am I going to have to buy all new clothes? Am I going to be able to stay 20lbs lighter? They really don’t know what to expect as a result of change, it’s scary and unknown, and what we know now is safe even thought we are not happy.
If YOU want something in your life to change, and it’s not happening, ask yourself:
What do I like about staying the same is; it really the best thing for me?
Do I want change bad enough; can I choose it over and over again?
How can I ENJOY the journey of getting there, each step of the way?
What exactly is the end result, how will I know when I made the change?
