What are they?
Why do we have them?
How do we get rid of them?
Limiting beliefs are things that are embedded into your mind that tell you that all things are NOT possible, you have subconsciously limited yourself, your abilities and your life by repeating these thoughts over and over again in your mind. We all do this. We say things like, I will never have enough money to get what I want. And you then never will because that’s what you believe in. I have to stay at this job because there are no other jobs out there. This is another belief where you have just wiped out any possibility of working anywhere else because you truly believe this thought. Now the job market may not be ideal at the moment, but there are other jobs if you can choose to see it that way. We all choose our own thoughts.
Most of our limiting beliefs have been placed in our minds at a young age based on experiences and how we were taught. We also pick up these beliefs on an everyday basis by watching the news or listening to other negativity and their limiting beliefs. Society also implants these limiting beliefs in our minds. It is our job to become of aware of them. It is only then they we can change them.
Become more conscious of your thought patterns. Do you have limiting beliefs? Listen closely to your thought process and write down those beliefs that pop in your head on a day to day basis. You may be surprised at what is really going on in that head of yours. Read over those beliefs and notice how un-true they really are and how they limit the possibilities you have for yourself. For each limiting belief you have written down, take out a new piece of paper and write down a belief that includes endless possibility. For example, there are no jobs becomes, there is a job out there for me that better suits my needs. I will never have enough money becomes; there are ways to have more money.
Take the list of limiting beliefs and burn it, read it aloud and get it out of your head, or crumple it up and throw it away. This is a sort of house cleaning of the mind. Now, take those new possibility beliefs and enter those into your mind. You’ve probably been holding onto these limiting beliefs for quite some time now, so it will take constant practice to catch yourself and remove these thoughts and well as constant practice to embed these new thoughts. You choose the thoughts, so when a limiting belief pops into your head, immediately replace it with your new belief, what you really want to believe. Say it aloud, get it into that head. Constantly pick the beliefs that you want for yourself and your life!
There are no limits to what you can do, believe that! And believe in yourself!
